About The Human Resources Centre:
The Human Resources Center, Inc. is a non-profit agency that was incorporated in October of 1973. At that time, there were very limited options for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A group of local professionals and parents were concerned for the future of those individuals they knew and loved and so, the Human Resources Council was formed. The Council applied for, and received, a onetime matching grant that built the foundation on which the organization stands today.
Now, over 40 years later, we continue to provide residential, vocational, home-based, and community support services throughout Wayne, Carbon, Monroe, Pike, Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. We have three convenient locations in Honesdale, Hawley/Lords Valley, and Effort, PA.
Our vision at HRC is to inspire our community to embrace individual differences and foster equality so that we may live in a world where acceptance and inclusion can thrive for generations to come. We hope to encourage and empower every individual to live to his or her fullest, regardless of “ability”.
About PTSA:
PTSAs provide youth members with the opportunity to make a difference by developing leadership skills, learning about the legislative process, increasing their self-esteem, and contributing to the school and community. In turn, adult PTSA members gain a new perspective for program development and youth leadership development and acquire a better understanding of the youth of today.
In addition to checking out the below resources, consider tying this work to becoming a School of Excellence! All of the resources and opportunities below cover efforts that could strengthen your PTSAs work in building family-school partnerships.
