About Richmond Career Education & Employment Academy
The Richmond Career Education & Employment Academy (RCEEA) opened its doors on September 3, 2013. RCEEA was a joint venture between Richmond Public Schools and Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) with support provided by VCU - Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC). The purpose of the VCU - RRTC is to conduct advanced research, training, and technical assistance, and dissemination activities specifically to improve the employment outcomes of individuals with physical, cognitive, and/or development disabilities. The contributions of these three entities led to the development and establishment of RCEEA, a public charter school designed specifically for students with low incidence disabilities.
The mission of the Richmond Career Education & Employment Academy is to provide an intensive functional curriculum that is oriented toward career education and competitive employment.
The Academy will enhance the productive contributions and vocational capacities of its students. Outcomes for all students will be competitive employment, enrollment in meaningful post-secondary programs, or other productive activities that contribute directly to the well-being of the individuals and the community.
