RESTART Program at Eckhart School

Home school, Eckhart, and Virtual Academic Village (VAV) use the same curriculum as the comprehensive school delivered through the use of differentiated lessons and assignments created by teachers from the comprehensive schools in collaboration with alternative education teachers.  The transition to Common Core State Standards inspired the transformation of these alternative settings. The new vision for alternative settings are not exactly what the student would get in the traditional classroom; however, the new VAV model strives to decrease disciplinary actions and be more similar to the formal instructional setting so students will not be behind when they transition back to the home school. For middle school students, VAV is the last resort option, as Eckhart is the better option for middle school due to its structure and time requirements.
