Mission Statement

• Hybla Valley Elementary School’s mission is to actively engage our community in learning experiences that promote responsibility and self-advocacy. In a safe, nurturing, and challenging environment, we will provide effective instruction with constructive feedback. Students will be given opportunities to grow as learners and celebrate their academic, social, and physical achievements. Our students will be confident, independent learners and respectful, productive citizens.

School Summary

• Hybla Valley Elementary School serves a multicultural diverse population in southeastern Fairfax County. Located next to Huntley Meadows Park, the school promotes a hands-on approach to learning that enhances academic and social success. Through continuing research, cooperation, and collaboration our school community sees learning as continuous, integrated, and child-centered. We involve students in real-life experiences and empower students to be responsible for their learning.  Hybla Valley prepares students for their future by ensuring that the arts and physical development are an integral part of our program, and by using technology as an essential learning tool.

• The staff, students, parents, and community members work together to create a positive, successful learning environment for all students. Emphasis is placed on developing literacy, participating in hands-on experiences, and strengthening our students' social skills through the use of the Responsive Classroom approach. Attention is also placed on developing critical-thinking skills, working collaboratively, and practicing cultural sensitivity.

• Wireless laptop and iPad carts allow students access to technology while they learn core subjects. Each grade level has access to Smartboards and document cameras to enhance learning. At Hybla Valley we recognize and celebrate a community of lifelong learners and caring, involved citizens
