About Frances Hazel Reid School
Frances Hazel Reid began the process of adopting a new Mission and Vision during the spring of 2017. After several revisions based upon input from all stakeholders, the current Mission and Vision was formally adopted during February of 2018. The school then began the process of establishing Core Beliefs and Commitments. Revisions have been made with the plans of final adoption in the Fall of 2018. Following the adoption of Core Beliefs and Commitments, stakeholders will develop strategic goals in order to measure the future fulfillment of the adopted Vision. A key success to the 2017-2018 school year was the expansion of leadership with Collaborative Learning Team Facilitators attending the county provided Leadership Institute during the summer of 2017. All teams were focused on building positive relationships with a focus on the norms of collaboration. Each team created an end of year goal and a team vision. In order to provide support for the first year facilitators, a second set of facilitators attended the Leadership Institute during the spring of 2018 and facilitating opportunities will be provided for the continued expansion of leadership.
All classroom teachers have completed SIOP PD and our EL team kicked off the PD for the 2018-2019 school year with a focus on opening and closing lessons with objectives and providing explicit oracy instruction.
