About Elkhardt-Thompson Middle School
History
- Elkhardt-Thompson School is a newly merged school circa 2015. Elkhardt Middle School was merged with Fred D. Thompson Middle School that was built in the 1960’s by Chesterfield County Public Schools and was named for a former Chesterfield County Superintendent. Thompson Middle School was among approximately a dozen schools and support buildings, along with 23 square miles of territory annexed by the City of Richmond from Chesterfield County. The annexation became effective January 1, 1970. Richmond Public School system began operating Elkhardt-Thompson Middle school in the summer of 2015.
