School Summary
Daniels Run mission is to Develop Better People, to celebrate and value the cultural and ethnic diversity of our families and to work together with our supportive PTA who makes many of our special events, family fun nights, assemblies and before and after school programs possible. Our Family Resource Center welcomes new families and supports parents and volunteers. A caring culture, teamwork, individual effort, positive attitude and respect are all part of daily life at Daniels Run.
Daniels Run vision is to provide ALL children a strong academic foundation aligned with the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate. Developing skills as a Communicator, Collaborator, Ethical and Global Citizen, Creative and Critical Thinker, and a Goal Directed and Resilient Individual and instilling the values of equity, respect, responsibility, self-advocacy, and resilience so that every child can lead a meaningful, successful life are cornerstones of the school and community. Daniels Run offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding through the use of technology integrated throughout the school. Daniels Run, a FCPS K-6 grade elementary school in the City of Fairfax, was established in 2001 with the consolidation of Green Acres and Layton Hall Elementary Schools.
As a professional learning community, Daniels Run educators collaborate to provide an inclusive, engaging, and challenging instructional program to support all students with the core curricula of Virginia and Fairfax County Public Schools. The staff participates in on-going professional learning to share expertise and incorporate best practices in teaching and learning.
